Para su primera muestra individual en Cali Gisela Savdie ha elegido una serie sobre el Carnaval de Barranquilla, ciudad donde recibió su inicial formación artística y ahora reparte su estancia intercalándola con Miami.

Mucho se ha fotografiado la gran fiesta anterior a la Cuaresma que se lleva cabo anualmente en la capital del Atlántico. La ciudad a orillas del río Magdalena y cercana al mar tiene todo el sabor Caribe y esta celebración goza de una tradición que involucra a todos los habitantes de distintos sectores. El evento se prolonga por varios días y como los similares de su especie goza de la energía dionisiaca necesaria.

Pero Gisela Savdie ha capturado los protagonistas anónimos de ese evento, comunicando la energía y potenciando las tomas a través del color, los contrastes de luz y al necesario movimiento para que las imágenes puedan trasmitir el ímpetu que los ha impulsado hacer parte del jolgorio.

Los registros de los distintos participantes son independientes y cada uno se resuelve con características particulares, ofreciendo su cromatismo e iluminación de manera singular. Aunque existe un formato e intención que logra conformar un conjunto coherente más allá del tema mismo.

Gisela Savdie desafía la fotografía documental y va más allá subrayando los aspectos que los estudios culturales quieren resaltar, considerando los sociológicos y antropológicos. Desea convertir sus imágenes en testimonio de un evento que se presta a diversas lecturas. La fotografía como medio urgente e inmediato se comporta aquí como un eficaz vehículo materializador en busca de significantes.

Instructor Led Classroom Training RecStay classes are more then just dynamic, engaging and incorporate practical examples demonstrating how the techniques the trainee is learning can be implemented into their work immediately. Course material covers the range from beginner to advanced. Class length is 6-7 hours, depending on the subject and level. At the end of the day the trainee has been introduced to a good number of concepts and tools and has had the opportunity to practice them during the class.
